Thiruvananthapuram
Law Minister M. Vijayakumar has his job cut out for him. As the principal campaigner for the development of the capital city during the last five years when the UDF ruled Kerala, it is up to him to ensure that the projects highlighted by him take off. Having assumed the role of Law Minister, he has a more onerous job to see that the long- pending demand to set up a High Court Bench in Thiruvananthapuram becomes a reality. The Vizhinjam container terminal project and the development of the international airport are other major projects that he will have to take to the logical conclusion. The grapevine has it that the LDF is contemplating the creation of a separate department for the development of the capital region. Political and official circles are waiting to see if the mantle falls on Mr. Vijayakumar.
