Textbook copies seized from U.P. school

LUCKNOW: Officials have seized copies of a class V textbook, carrying an illustration of Prophet Muhammad, prescribed in Vivekanand School at Mahoba in the Bundelkhand regionof Uttar Pradesh.

Home Secretary R.M. Srivastava said the Meerut district administration also sealed the premises of Praveen Prakashan Mandir, publisher of the book, at 20 Sant Colony.

Mau tense after killing

Meanwhile, senior police officials from the Varanasi and Azamgarh range were despatched to Mau in eastern Uttar Pradesh for monitoring the law and order situation in the wake of the killing of a student on Wednesday.
