Delhi season from August 8

NEW DELHI: Delhi racing season 2006-07 is all set to begin on August 8 and will come to an end in April, 2007. During a period of nine-month, a calendar of 50 race days have been framed.

This season stake money has been hiked. Rs 4, 03, 18, 200 crore will be at stake and Rs. 5, 45,000 will be spent on cups and trophies. The winner of races belonging to two to three-year old and class One horses will get Rs. 1 lakh. About 350 horses are expected to take part under the care of about 32 trainers.

The feature races of the season are as under: Champion Sprinters Cup (Nov. 7), North India 1000 Guineas (Dec.5), President Of India Cup (Dec.19), North India 2000 Guineas (Dec.26).

Sohna Stud Million (Jan. 16, 2007), North India Derby (Jan. 30).

A. B. Stud Fillies Trial Stakes (Feb. 19), Mukteshwar Stud Colts Trial Stakes (Feb.26), Northern India Cup (March 13), Usha & Mehra Stud Million (March 27), D. R. C. Managing Committee Juvenile Sprinters Cup (April 10).
