NSUI submits memo

NEW DELHI: The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Proctor in an effort to try and put their point of view about the Hans Raj College hostel issue. NUSU has demanded that there should be a standard rule for all college hostels in the University.

"NSUI has also demanded that there should be more hostel accommodation for outstation students. We demand that the University administration expedite the construction of new hostels on an immediate basis,'' said NSUI president Harsh Choudhary.

Book release

NEW DELHI: A book on eminent theatre personality of Uttaranchal, Mohan Upreti, will be released by Prof. P. C. Joshi, former Chairman of the National School of Drama, in the Capital on Friday. The function will be held at NSD's Abhimanch at 5.30 p.m. The book -- Mohan Upreti: The Man and His Art -- has been written by well-known drama critic Diwan Singh Bajeli.

The other highlights of the evening will be the presentation of rare compositions of Mr. Upreti by the artists of Parvatiya Kala Kendra, a cultural organisation of the people of Uttaranchal set up by the theatre personality in Delhi in 1968.

Raising Day function

NEW DELHI: National Ex-Servicemen Coordination Committee, Delhi State, will celebrate its 24th Raising Day function at Amar Jawan Jyoti here this Saturday.

The function will see the participation of various ex-servicemen organisations affiliated to National Ex-Servicemen Coordination Committee. On the occasion, a wreath will be laid at Amar Jawan Jyoti in memory of the martyrs.

Issues like honourable re-settlement of war widows and ex-servicemen, anomalies in pension and relief on pension to all ex-servicemen will be discussed at the function.

DPCC appointment

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma has appointed industrialist Rajinder Gupta as chairman of the Industries Cell of DPCC. Mr. Gupta is an entrepreneur and has a vast experience in the field.

Dharna over murders

NEW DELHI: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Goel staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar here on Thursday to demand the immediate arrest of those responsible for the cold-blooded murder of seven members of a family at Inderlok here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Goel said: "Ever since the United Progressive Alliance Government came to power, the crime graph in Delhi has gone up. All types of crimes including murders, rapes, loots have increased."
