Excise exemption for hilly states extended

SHIMLA: The Union Government has extended the excise duty exemption granted to new industrial units in Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Sikkim till March 31, 2010, from March 31, 2007, on a request from these States. A notification, extending the excise duty extension under the industrial package implemented in these States from January 3, 2003, was issued on Wednesday, the Director of Industries B S Nanta said.
