RJD alleges land scam, Congress sees false affidavit by Minister

K.Balchand

Memorandum submitted to Governor and Chief Electoral Officer

PATNA: Ahead of the commencement of the monsoon session of the Bihar Legislature on Friday, the RJD and the Congress on Thursday separately called upon the Governor and the Chief Electoral Officer raising issues of illegalities in land allocation and the submission of a false affidavit by a Cabinet Minister in the Nitish Kumar Government.

The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Rabri Devi, submitted a memorandum to Governor R.S.Gavai charging that the Chief Minister had gone out of the way in allocating land to film director Prakash Jha for a song for construction of multiplex complexes at four places in the State.

Mrs. Rabri Devi demanded that the Governor enquire into the matter and take necessary action. She claimed that the Governor assured to call for the necessary papers and take a decision soon.

She alleged that Mr. Kumar had become the epitome of `Kushashan' (bad governance) and indulged in favouritism so much so that even the rules were violated in allocating industrial area land much the same way that the NDA had doled out land in Delhi when in power at the Centre.

On the other hand, the Congress spokesman Prem Chand Mishra submitted a memorandum to the CEO Sudhir Kumar Rakesh charging that the Power Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav had filed a false affidavit while filing his nomination paper for the Supaul Assembly constituency in the last election.

Mr. Mishra urged the CEO to disqualify Mr. Yadav's membership of the Assembly charging that the latter had not mentioned the criminal case pending against him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna since 1992 which had been filed by an engineer Lallan Prasad Sinha.

He maintained that Mr. Sinha had lodged a case accusing Mr. Yadav, then Minister of State for Power, of issuing threats against him. Mr. Mishra charged that the court had declared Mr. Yadav an absconder for not appearing before it despite arrest warrants.
