CAC open house

Bangalore:
Sunil Mor of K.R. Puram tried for six months to obtain a khata certificate for his property but in vain. Later, he approached the Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) and within a few days he was able to get his khata for Rs. 400 without paying any bribe.
This was the first success story of CAC, a movement launched to fight corruption in government agencies and departments.
At an open house meeting here on Thursday, CAC felicitated three citizens for their struggle against corruption with its help.
Sheila Premkumar, senior programme officer, Public Affairs Centre, made a brief presentation on ways in which the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) could take up the asphalting work. Drains should be kept clean before asphalting or the onset of monsoon, she said.
The BMP should utilise open spaces for pay and park facilities so that roads were kept free for traffic. It should issue notices to public utilities against road digging. It should also make sure that construction did not destroy the footpaths, she said.
