ERODE: A worker of a private firm at Kangeyam area died on Thursday night owing to heavy consumption of liquor. According to the police, Selvaraj (58) of Peraoorani near Thanjavur was working in a private firm in Kangeyam for daily wages. As Thursday was a holiday for Aadi 18, Selvaraj and seven other workers consumed liquor from a shop at Thottipatty. Owing to heavy consumption, Selvaraj swooned. He died on way to the hospital. Frightened over his death, others got themselves admitted to the hospital. They were discharged on Friday. Superintendent of Police Sonal V. Misra said that there was no spurious liquor in the area
