Indian colts squander advantage

London: The Indian under-19 middle order fell like a pack of cards to concede an overall lead of 210 runs to their England counterparts on the third day of the four-day cricket match here.

At stumps on Thursday, England colts were in the driver's seat at 190 for two and will look to force a win.

Skipper Varun Chopra, who scored a century in the first innings, fell five runs short of another century. O Shea was batting at the other end on 24 at close of play.

Earlier, India, which was firmly placed at 230 for three on day two, was troubled by the leggie Adil Rashid who claimed eight wickets to snatch away the advantage from the visitors.

Rashid, who had tormented the Indians with a century in the first innings, did well with the ball as well.

Rashid claimed six of the nine Indian wickets that fell on the day giving away 69 runs.

India lost wickets at regular intervals with Virat Kohli (59) scoring the only half century of the day for it. The tailenders Shahbaz Nadeem (22), V. Yo Mahesh (35 no) and Abu Ahmed (22) added 64 runs to prevent further humiliation.

Nadeem continued to impress and took two England wickets for 77 runs. — PTI
