Zaheer claims season's 60th first class victim

London: Zaheer Khan claimed his 60th first class victim of the season as Worcestershire bowled out Glamorgan for 340 in a division two county championship cricket match at Colwyn Bay.

Zaheer took three wickets after having contributed 13 with the bat in Worcestershire's total of 460 after it won the toss and elected to bat first.

A late fightback by wicketkeeper Mark Wallace (48) and Alex Wharf (86) saved the follow-on for the home side, but Zaheer and Gareth Batty, who also took three wickets, combined well to make sure that the Glamorgan duo's effort did not cause major damage.

Mark Cosgrove became Zaheer's 60th first class victim of the season when he was leg before to the second ball of the innings. Zaheer later removed Mike Powell (28) and Wharf.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell (134 not out) and No. 11 Nadeem Malik (35) frustrated the Glamorgan bowlers to take the visitors' total to 460. — Agencies
