BANGALORE: Rohit R. Hawaldar and Rehan Poncha, the two National campers representing BAC, set two new meet marks each on the second day of the State senior aquatics championship at the KCR pool here on Friday.

Rohit, who dominated the freestyle events, bettered his own record of 17:03.81 with a fine effort of 16:53.31 in the 1500m freestyle. He narrowly missed breaking the National mark of 16:32.44 held by Mandar Divase.

Rohit's second record came in the 200m freestyle, when he bettered Rehan Poncha's record of 2:00.84, clocking 1:57.08.

He claimed silver in the 200m backstroke, bettering the meet mark. The event was, however, won by Rehan Poncha in style at 2:14.21.

Rehan's good show

Rehan notched up his second record of the day, winning the 200m individual medley in 2:14.71. He seized a decisive lead in the breaststroke segment and then raced away to a record in the freestyle event.

The other two records came in the 4x100m freestyle relay, which BAC `A' won in 3:48.03 and in the 50m backstroke, won by N.A. Sandeep in 28.24.

Madhavi Giri, the junior ace from KCR, showed her class in the women's section winning the 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke races. She also claimed silver in the 200m individual medley.

Kshipra won the 800m freestyle and 200m freestyle races.
