Idayam Rajendran to meet St. Britto's

MADURAI : Idayam Rajendran Residential School and St. Britto's Higher Secondary School will clash for the seniors title in the 21st Mangaleswari memorial trophy State-level inter-school basketball tournament.

The results: Semifinals: Idayam Rajendran Residential School 49 (R.V.S. Babu 16) bt American College HSS 29 (Karuppasamy 13); St. Britto's HSS 47 (Mani Bharathi 15) bt St. Mary's H.S.S. Dindigul 31 (Andrews 10).

Super-seniors (quarterfinals): St. Mary's, Madurai 56 (Arul Jeyaraj 19, Janifer 13) bt St. Britto's HSS 33 (Vignesh 19).

Lady Doak reigns

Lady Doak College retained the title for the third successive year defeating Fatima College 2-0 in the final of the Madurai Kamaraj University inter-collegiate women's badminton tournament at the University indoor stadium here on Friday. Dr. A. Kailash Paliwal, Syndicate member gave away the prizes.

The results: Final: Lady Doak College bt Fatima College 2-0 (Abiramai bt Deepa 21-8, 21-6; Abirami & Lakshmi Saranya bt Deepa & Vigneshwati 21-10, 21-12). Semifinals: LDC bt S.F.R. College, Sivakasi 2-0; Fatima bt Sri Meenakshi Govt. College for Women 2-0.

P.S.N.A. College of Engineering, Dindigul and Mohamed Sathak College of Engineering, Kilakarai entered the semifinals of the Anna university Zone 9 inter-Engineering women's badminton tournament with 2-0 wins overs R.V.S. College of Engineering, Dindidul and A.C.C.E.T, Karaikudi at K.L.N.College of Engineering Courts here on Friday.

Guruvappa HSS wins title

Guruvappa HSS, Neikarapatti, won the boys and overall championship with a total of 61 points, while Annamalaiyar Girls Higher Secondary School won the girls overall championship with a tally of 98 points in the Dindigul District open athletic meet on Friday.
