Sushma Swaraj performs Varamahalakshmi puja

Participates in a mass marriage ceremony organised by the BJP

BELLARY: Sushma Swaraj, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MP, performed Sri Varamahalakshmi puja at the residence of B.K. Srinivasmurthy, physician, here on Friday.

Ms. Sushma Swaraj, accompanied by her daughter, and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Sadanand Gowda, president of the State unit of the party, arrived here by a helicopter.

Janardhan Reddy, suspended Bharatiya Janata Party MLC; Karunakara Reddy, MP; B. Sriramulu, Minister for Tourism and Textiles; and G. Somashekar Reddy, former Mayor, received them.

After the puja, Ms. Sushma Swaraj and others participated in a mass marriage ceremony organised by the district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the BDAA Ground in the city and blessed 305 couples.

Ms. Sushma Swaraj commended the district unit of the party for organising such a ceremony every year and said that attending it and blessing the newly married couples had become part of her annual visit to Bellary.

Mr. Sriramulu said that the Bharatiya Janata Party had emerged stronger in Bellary district because of the efforts of Ms. Sushma Swaraj.

Mr. Sadananda Gowda spoke on the occasion. Mr. Karunakara Reddy welcomed the gathering.
