Trees uprooted, power supply disrupted

Several low-lying areas inundated

Kakinada: Several low-lying areas in the port city such as Dummulapet, Sanjaynagar, Yetimoga, Mutha Nagar, Tharakarama Nagar, Pagadalapet, Mahalakshmi Nagar and Venkateswera Colony were inundated following rain for the past 24 hours.

Trees were uprooted at several places and power supply was disrupted due to gale. Several localities like Dwarakanagar, Madhu Nagar, Meher Nagar and Gandhinagar, Ramaraopet and busy main road had no power supply for hours together on Thursday night. Though it was restored later, there were frequent interruptions.

The city received a maximum rainfall of 12 cm during last 24 hours ending 8 a.m. on Friday. The district received a total of 64.37 cm with the average fall being 11.10 cm. Maredumilli and Rampachodavaram mandals received the highest rainfall of 23.24 cm each while P. Gannavaram mandal received the lowest rainfall of 2.14 cm.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded are: Addateegala 11.58 cm, Rajavommangi 17.16 cm, Kotananduru 10.52 cm, Sankhavaram 17.9 cm, Yelesweram 18.92 cm, Devipatnam 11.24 cm, Seethanagaram 11.46 cm, Samalkot 12.52 cm, Rajahmundry 13.34 cm, Mandapet 13.42 cm, Anaparty 18.50 cm, Ramachandrapuram 9.84 cm.,Mummidivaram 8.04 cm, Razole 4.32 cm and Amalapuram 7.52 cm.
