Red Cross to organise blood banks

Training camp for doctors, nurses, technicians from August 17

Sangareddy: The Medak unit of the Indian Red Cross Society will organise blood banks for urban slums through urban health centres.

Addressing a review meeting here recently, Collector B. Venkatesam said two blood banks and four blood storage centres, along with medicine banks and Red Ribbon Clubs, would be established in the district. The Red Cross Society has actually proposed 16 blood banks and 89 blood storage centres throughout the State. It has decided to establish a new blood bank at Siddipet .In later stages, more storage centres will be established in Medak, Gajwel, Narayankhed and Zaheerabad areas. In Sangareddy and Siddipet, at least one urban health centre will be set up in the colonies of poor people. All the basic amenities like ambulance, generators, air-conditioners and refrigerators will be provided to the blood bank.

Training camp

Mr. Venkatesam said training camp for doctors, nurses and laboratory technicians, who would manage these centres, will be held in Hyderabad from August 17.
