BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Government is launching a special insurance scheme for tribal students enrolled in hostels and ashrams run by the State Tribal Welfare Department. The State Government would be paying the insurance premium for nearly 90, 000 tribal students to be covered this year under this scheme. Tenders have already been invited and various insurance companies asked to submit the rates of the annual premium by August 20. Under the insurance scheme, there is a provision of Rs. 50, 000 for death or permanent disability due to accident. Besides Rs. 25, 000 would be paid for partial and permanent disability with additional disbursement of Rs. 5, 000 for treatment. Insurance cover under this scheme would be available to tribal students studying or participating in any sporting event across the country. The scheme would be effective from July 1 to June 30 next year and the insurance policy would be renewed every year.
