Youth held on theft charge

MANGALORE: Police have arrested A.M. Aziz (19) of Ajjavar village in Mangalore taluk in connection with an alleged theft at BSNL office in Car Street here on July 17, said a press release from B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, here on Friday.

According to a complaint lodged by BSNL, some unknown persons had entered the office by breaking open the shutter lock. They had stolen a mobile phone, few SIM cards; recharge coupons and Rs.83, 000 in cash.

The Sullia police recovered Rs. 54,000, the mobile handset and few recharge coupons from the accused.

Aziz, was produced before the jurisdictional magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody.
