HYDERABAD: The district administration has been on alert and working in close coordination with different departments, including the police, municipal and fire services, to address rain-related problems in the city and suburbs, according to Hyderabad Collector R.V. Chandravadan. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, the Collector said the situation was being monitored round-the-clock in tandem with the MCH. He sought to allay fears over Hussainsagar lake and the Musi, saying the water flow had not reached alarming level. Areas vulnerable to inundation were identified and in sensitive areas, residents placed on alert. "We have made arrangements to shift them to relief centres, if needed," Mr. Chandravadan said. There were around 3,000 encroachments around the Hussainsagar and the Musi and 1,600 of them were identified for appropriate action, he noted. Wherever necessary, alternative housing available under different Government schemes would be provided.
Special teams formed
Meanwhile, the MCH said that steps were taken to ensure that main roads remained free of stagnation. Special teams were deployed for attending to the complaints. Control rooms were set up in every division for the convenience of citizens. They are headed by officers of Executive Engineer cadre.
