Ibsen Theatre Day on Tuesday

KOZHIKODE: The Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi will observe August 8 as Ibsen Theatre Day in connection with the 100th death anniversary of the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. A. Pradeepkumar, MLA, will inaugurate a function to be held in connection with the event at S.K. Pottakkatt Hall here at 5 p.m. Akademi secretary P.V. Krishnan Nair will present the topic "Ibsen's drama concept" at a seminar. M.M. Basheer will present the topic "Ibsen's influence in Malayalam theatre" on the occasion.

K. Sreekumar will give a lecture on the topic "Theatre and society" at 2 p.m. A discussion on the topic "Amateur and professional division in contemporary theatre" will be held at 3 p.m.

Theatre persons, including Ibrahim Vengara, Jayaprakash Kuloor, Pradeep Kumar Kavunthara, Vasu Pradeep, Nilambur Ayisha, Satheesh K. Satheesh, Vilwappalli Rajan, A. Santhakumar and T. Sureshkumar, will participate in the discussions. The play Pavathan Nadu, written by P.M. Taj, will be staged at 6.30 p.m.
