President's secretariat directs protocol for Alamatti dam inauguration ceremony

GULBARGA: Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd. (KBJNL) on Saturday clarified that only Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Water Resources Minister K.S. Eshwarappa, the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and Chief Secretary B.K. Das would be on the dais at the function in which President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the Alamatti dam on August 21.

A senior KBJNL official told The Hindu here on condition of anonymity that the seating arrangements on the dais were finalised according to directions from the President's secretariat and the State Government had no role to play in deciding how many people would be on the dais.

The President's secretariat had clearly stated that only seven persons, including the President, should be on the dais at the function. Other dignitaries, including Ministers, MPs and legislators would be seated in the front row.

The official pointed out that the normal protocol followed would not apply for functions in which the President participated. The Government had to follow the directions of the President's secretariat.

Based on the directions of the President's secretariat, the Government decided to allow only six persons, apart from the President, on the dais.

Accordingly the names of the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, the Water Resources Minister and Mr. Deve Gowda were cleared by the State Government.
