Bangalore: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday began a review of the performance of party Ministers in the H.D. Kumaraswamy-led coalition government in the State.

The coalition government completed six months in office two days ago and four of the BJP Ministers were inducted only two months ago during the second expansion of the Ministry. The review is being supervised by the party vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, general secretary in charge of Karnataka Thevarchand Gehlot, national general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar, State party president D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.

Sources in the BJP told The Hindu that the exercise had been undertaken to promote better rapport among the Ministers and simultaneously ensure that they focussed more attention on the implementation of the budget proposals. All the party Ministers attended the programme held at a resort on the road to Doddaballapur, about 40 km from here.

It was said that the exercise would continue on Sunday and there would be an interaction between the Ministers and State office-bearers. With the BJP being in the government for the first time in the State, it was a new experience for the Ministers whose performance was reviewed by a small group of the party leaders.

BJP sources said the review did not mean that some of the Ministers would be dropped. The exercise was mainly aimed at improving their performance.
