Kumaraswamy surveys flood-hit areas in State

Special Correspondent

Compensation paid to flood victim's family

GULBARGA: Incessant rain in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region forced Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to cancel his tour of some of the flood-affected areas on the banks of the Krishna and the Bhima in Gulbarga and Raichur districts and instead undertake an aerial survey of the flooded agriculture fields and villages on the banks of the two rivers. Mr. Kumaraswamy was scheduled to visit some of the flood-affected villages in Raichur district and Hire Mannur village in Afsalpur taluk in Gulbarga district on Saturday. Accompanied by senior officials, including Development Commissioner A.K. Agarwal and Finance Secretary Subramanya, the Chief Minister flew low over the flood-affected villages on the banks of the Krishna and the Bhima in an Indian Air Force helicopter and witnessed the havoc caused by the flood on standing crops and the people.
