VOICE OF THE YOUNG: Children from Bachpan Bachao Andolan enter the Raj Ghat, in protest against the Israeli bombing of Lebanon, in New Delhi on Saturday.
NEW DELHI: Children sporting banners which read "Children for Peace and Peace for Children" along with social activists and people from all walks of life took out a peace march from Samta Sthal to Raj Ghat on Saturday. They called for an immediate and complete ceasefire in Lebanon. The march drew attention to the killing of over 620 civilians and injuring of 3,225 others in Lebanon. With every third victimbeing a child, the march appealed for better sense and an immediate cessation of all hostilities. It also pointed out that over 7,50,000 people had been displaced from their homes in Lebanon and this has also deprived thousands of children security, health care, education and exposed them to trauma. With millions of children becoming victims of terrorism, wars and conflicts each year, the peace march sought to impress that no one can claim to be a good religious person by killing and crippling children or making them orphans. It also urged the international community to take urgent steps to stop the killings in Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.
