Government order on self-financing courses

CHENNAI: All self-financing courses in government colleges will henceforth be converted to aided courses as per an order issued by the State Government. The July 20 order covers 264 courses in 51 government colleges.

All additional fees collected from students enrolled in self-financing courses will be refunded, including those collected from students in the second and third year of the course, the order said.

Guest lecturers, on a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 4,000, will be appointed for handling the courses.

The order was passed on representations received from poor students who were unable to take up the courses due to the high fee structure.
