Chief Minister's family accused of lapses in property deal

CBI probe should be ordered into the transaction: Janardhana Poojary

BANGALORE: Senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary, MP, has alleged that the family members of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had committed serious financial irregularities with respect to purchase of property at Whitefield and demanded that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Income Tax authorities probe into the transaction.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Poojary said if the RBI and IT authorities fail to take action against the alleged financial irregularities committed by Mr. Kumaraswamy and his family members in the property purchase deal, he himself would take up the issue.

The Congress leader alleged that business of the Chief Minister's family had increased after the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government came to power.

Mr. Poojary said the property was undervalued during registration and the Karnataka Bank had extended a loan even though the ownership of the property was under dispute.

The Chief Minister on Friday said that the property transaction was done through legal means.

Mr Poojary alleged that family members of Mr. Kumaraswamy had registered their sale deed of property purchase for 9.70 acres of land even though actual transfer of land was 22 acres.

He said the six-month-old coalition Government had failed to provide good governance.
