NEW DELHI: A dealing assistant of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi police for his alleged involvement in helping several candidates appearing for recruitment in the Border Security Force (BSF) get fake domicile certificates purportedly showing them to be residents of the Capital.
Same address
Deputy Commandant (Vigilance) of the BSF, New Delhi, had lodged a complaint with the EOW that 11 candidates, appearing for examinations for the post of constables had the same address in their domicile certificates. All of them had purportedly shown themselves to be residents of Sultanpuri in North-West Delhi whereas they were found to be residents of Rajasthan and Haryana. Investigations revealed that the certificates were issued from the office the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Saraswati Vihar. But the files regarding issuance of these certificates were missing. Further, it was revealed that dealing assistant, Tek Chand, who was responsible for clearing the applications and maintaining the files, had taken money from a tout to clear the applications. Tek Chand was also found missing after the case came to light. The police, meanwhile, managed to trace the files from the SDM office. Finally, Tek Chand was arrested on Thursday. He has been remanded to three-day police custody by a city court. Further investigations in the case are on.
