NEW DELHI: The son of a prominent businessman from Lucknow, who had gone missing from his home on July 21, has been traced in the Capital by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi police. He had run away from home as he apparently did not want to pursue a career which his parents had decided for him. A complaint in this regard had been lodged with the EOW on July 31 by the boy's mother. She had suspected that her son was kidnapped and taken to Delhi. Investigations revealed that the boy had sent an e-mail to his sister, who was in Ukraine. The content of the e-mail indicated that he was somewhere in East Delhi. On Friday, the boy initiated a chat session with his sister and remained online for about 15 minutes. With the help of electronic surveillance, the Cyber Cell of the EOW located the cyber café from where he was chatting. The café owner identified the boy. A Class XI student and youngest among siblings, he told the police that he had run away from his home on his own as he wanted to live a life without any help from his parents. He had befriended a few people in Nizamuddin over the Internet and had been staying with them after coming to the Capital. He had also taken up a job in a call centre. According to a police official, the boy was good in academics and his parents wanted him to take up medicine. His sister is pursuing a medicine course abroad. His parents had also enrolled him in a school there. However, he wanted to become an automobile engineer. When the parents did not agree to his choice of career, he ran away from home and came to Delhi.
