SAI to meet Ashok Memorial

CHENNAI: Sports Authority of India (Chennai) and Ashok Memorial will duel for the trophy in the D.S. Rajamanickam and Chandrakala Ghatala women's hockey tournament on Sunday.

In the four team round-robin which began on Saturday morning, both SAI and Ashok Memorial won their two matches to collect six points each. At the moment, SAI has a goal-aggregate of 15 while Ashok Memorial's tally is six.

Only an outright victory on Sunday will give Ashok Memorial the trophy.

The highlight of the day was the hat-trick by Aruna Shanmugapriya for Ashok Memorial against Erode District.

The results:

Round robin league: Ashok Memorial 1 (Anu Singh) bt IHM Avadi 0; SAI (Chennai) 10 (Priya 4, Amuda 3, Marlin Shalini 2, Epsi) bt Erode 0; SAI Chennai 5 (Priya 2, Vidya, Sathya, Amuda) bt IHM Avadi 0.

Ashok Memorial 5 (Aruna Shanmugapriya 3, Jayanthi 2) bt Erode XI 0. Erode District 4 (Vayolaran 2, Mohanapriya, Saranya) bt St. Aubus 0.

IHM Avadi 1 (Dalinina) bt Kanchipuram District 0; Ashok Memorial 3 (Jayaseeli 2, Nancy) bt RCM XI 0.
