"Link Pondicherry with Mangalore by rail"

Facility will benefit Mahe region of Union Territory; boost tourism

Pondicherry: V.P. Abdul Rahman, secretary, Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee urged the Union Railway Ministry to link by rail the Union Territory with Mangalore to promote tourism.

Mr. Rahman, in a release here on Friday, said he had written a letter to the Union Minister of State for Railways R. Velu presenting a strong case to introduce the train service. He said the Mahe region of the Union Territory was not directly connected by train from here.

The rail link from here to Mangalore would cover Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Palghat and Mahe region.
