President inaugurates three PG courses in nursing

HYDERABAD: President A P J Abdul Kalam has stressed the need for proper payment to nursing professionals and opening of more institutions to conduct under-graduate and PG courses in the wake of increasing global demand. He was inaugurating through video-conference three PG programmes in nursing -- three-year M.Sc in hospital management, PG course in physician's assistant and one-year PG diploma in cardiovascular nursing -- organised by the CARE Foundation, in collaboration with Netaji Subhas Open University on Saturday.

Research had shown that high quality nursing care reduced the extent of complications and hospital stay. "With this positive contribution of the nursing community, there is a need for role expansion," the President said.
