HASSAN: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has instructed Ministers to conduct "Janata Darshan" in district and taluk headquarters, on the lines of the one he is holding every Saturday at his official residence in Bangalore, to listen to the grievances of the people, Minister for Women and Child Welfare, H.K. Kumaraswamy, has said. The Minister told presspersons here on Saturday that he had conducted Janata Darshan programme in Mysore and Mandya districts and heard grievances of the people. "Authorities concerned have been directed to attend to the problems without delay," he said. The Government would not tolerate laxity on part of the authorities concerned and action would be initiated against those who failed in their duty, he said. "It needs political will to make the official machinery work and the Government will not compromise on that count," he said. Mr. Kumaraswamy said he had convened a meeting of officials representing Finance, Revenue and Women and Child Welfare departments to discuss the hurdles in implementing programmes envisaged. "Senior officials in the Secretariat will understand people's problems only when they visit district and taluk headquarters," he said. To a query on the allegations levelled by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the Government on various counts, he said a few leaders were making allegations and those would be sorted out by senior leaders at the coordination committee meeting. The BJP had not lost confidence in the Janata Dal (S) and the Government would complete its term, he said. Asked about the inconsistency of the Government in taking decisions on issues including provision of fee subsidy to professional courses and special powers to Lok Ayukta, he said the decision of the Government would change based on the circumstances and public opinion.
