MANGALORE: Uday Kumar (35), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Mangalore, who was killed in an attack by naxalites at Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, was cremated with full police honours here on Saturday. A large number of people, including elected representatives, revenue and police officials, visited the residence of Uday Kumar at Kadri and paid their last respects. Son of the late Damu Moolya and Sharada Moolya, Uday Kumar had served the CRPF for 14 years. Uday Kumar was part of a team that launched an operation against naxalites on Tuesday when he was killed in a blast along with two others. Four personnel were seriously injured. B. Nagaraj Shetty, district in-charge Minister, visited Uday Kumar's family on Thursday. Udaya Kumar is survived by his wife, Vasanthi, and sons, Rithesh (5) and Latesh (3). The body reached here on Saturday afternoon. Krishna Palemar, Suratkal MLA; Vijay Kumar Shetty, former MLA; B. Ramanath Rai, former Minister; K. Ashraf, Mayor; Ramachandre Gowda, tahshildar; Lokesh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police; and corporators were also present.
