Conversion of vacant sites into parks mooted

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Members of the Exnora Innovator's Club of Adambakkam have urged State Government agencies to adhere to certain rules while implementing new projects.

At a meeting held recently, the club has decided to write to the Alandur Municipality, Chennai Corporation and other government agencies.

In a memorandum they asked the local bodies to put an end to burning of wastes and provide storm water drains wherever necessary to avoid water stagnation. They also urged the government agencies to restore the lakes and other water bodies and upkeep vacant lands to prevent encroachments. To keep the environs pollution-free, many vacant sites may be converted into parks, they suggested.
