Sonia to attend Congress convention

BANGALORE:
Leaders and a large number of workers of the All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) will join the Congress in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on September 3 at Palace Grounds here.
Addressing presspersons after a meeting with Congress leaders and MLAs, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge said Ms. Gandhi would visit Bangalore on September 3 and participate in a party convention.
MLAs associated with the AIPJD would not join the party on September 3 because of some technical reasons, he said.
Senior party leaders would tour the State in the next few weeks to inform people about the significance of the rally.
The KPCC chief said block committees of the party had been reconstituted and district committees would be reconstituted soon.
