MOTIVATING THE CADRE: K. Karunakaran inaugurating the two-day State camp of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) at Charalkunnu, near Kozhencherry, in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday.
PATHANAMTHITTA : The two-day State camp of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) began at Charalkunnu, near Kozhencherry, on Saturday with senior leader K. Karunakaran tendering his apology to the party cadres for aligning with the Congress without consulting them. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Karunakaran said the DIC(K) was deceived by both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the decision to join hands with the Congress without consulting the party cadres proved to be wrong. He promised the party delegates that no such decisions would be taken in future without taking them into confidence. Mr. Karunakaran alleged that both the Congress and the CPI(M) were trying to weaken the DIC(K). Mr. Karunakaran said, ``the Achuthanandan Government has become so unpopular in its first two months of rule itself that the LDF would be wiped out if an election was held tomorrow.'' Presiding over the inaugural function, party president K. Muraleedharan said the State was plunged into total anarchy under the LDF rule and this coupled with the absence of a responsible Opposition had made the common man's life miserable, Mr. Muraleedharan said. The former Water Resources Minister T.M. Jacob, delivered the keynote address. The two-day meet will come to a close on Sunday.
