Youth diverts man's attention, escapes with cash bag

BANGALORE: A youth diverted a businessman's attention and snatched his bag containing Rs. 80,000 in cash in Jayanagar police station limits on Saturday.

The police said that around 11.30 a.m. Mohan Rao, the businessman, withdrew Rs. 80,000 from the Canara Bank's branch in 4th Block, Jayanagar. While he was about to get into the car, a youth came to him and said that some currency notes from his bag had fallen on the ground. While Rao was looking at the notes, the youth snatched the bag from him and ran away, the police said. The Jayanagar police have registered a case.

Gold chains snatched

Motorcycle-borne men snatched two gold chains from women in two incidents reported from Madivala and Banashankari police station limits.

The police said that around 6.30 p.m. on Friday, two men, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 50,000 from Saraswathi while she was walking towards a friend's house in Tavarekere for the Varamahalakshmi puja. In the other incident, two men, riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 45,000 from Kiran Hegde in Banashanakari police station limits on Saturday.

The police said that around 6.30 a.m. the culprits snatched the chain from Kiran while she was walking towards a milk booth near Om Shakti temple. The Banashankari police have registered a case.

Man murdered

Vijay Kumar (30) was stabbed to death allegedly by his younger brother at their house in Kasturinagar slum on Mysore Road around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The police said that Vijay Kumar advised his brother Devendra to give up drinking and take proper care of his wife and two children. Angered by his brother's advice, Devendra allegedly stabbed him with a knife. The Chamarajpet police have registered a case and arrested Devendra.

Arrested

The Ulsoor Gate police have arrested Suresh Yadav (22) of New Delhi on the charge of diverting the attention of a person and snatching his mobile phone. The police have recovered the cellphone from him.

Autorickshaws seized

The Ulsoor police have arrested Aslam Pasha (32) of Subbaiahnapalya and seized from him two autorickshaws, which had the same registration number. The police said Pasha was running the two vehicles with the same registration number without registering the vehicles with the Regional Transport Office.
