Action against 17 traders

Thiruvananthapuram: The district administration on Friday initiated legal action against 17 traders in the Chala, Palayam and Peroorkada markets for not displaying the price list and levying excess price from consumers. This followed a directive from District Collector N. Ayyappan on the basis of a spate of complaints from the public.

Squads led by Taluk Supply Officer M. Syed Kutty carried out surprise checks in the markets to check reports of violation. The raids revealed that many shops had removed the boards displaying the price list. The traders were directed to install fresh boards.
