THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Additional District and Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court I, Y. Thajudeen Koya on Saturday sentenced three persons to life and a fine of Rs.25,000 each for murdering a 28-year-old man at Vithura in November 2000. The persons sentenced are Sathyan, 40, Rajan, 44, and Shobhanan, 41, all residents of Vithura. According to public prosecutor Vattappara V. Sajan Prasad, who appeared on behalf of the prosecution, the case was that Prafullan, an arrack vendor, was clobbered to death near the Bounder junction in Vithura by the trio, who are also arrack vendors, following an altercation with one of the accused over its sale. The court also directed payment of Rs.50,000 as compensation from the fine amount to the legal heirs of the victim.
