Minister visits Venniyoor pump house

Thiruvananthapuram: The Vellayani freshwater lake will be utilised to solve the drinking water shortage in Venganoor and nearby panchayats, Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran has said. The Minister was speaking after visiting the Kerala Water Authority's Venniyoor water distribution pump house on Saturday, following reports of suspected pesticide contamination in the canal supplying water to the area.

Pumping has been stopped for a week.

All steps have been taken to resolve the problem of water shortage in the area, Mr. Premachandran said. — Staff Reporter

Swami Agnivesh visits school

Thiruvananthapuram: Swami Agnivesh, social activist, visited St. Thomas School, Mukkolakkal, on Saturday. Addressing the teachers, he urged them to teach students values that transcend religious barriers and to instil in students the courage to raise their voice against any injustice in society. — Staff Reporter
