Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships For Doctoral Studies

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial fund offers scholarships for duration of up to two years to the following candidates.

Indian Nationals for Ph.D studies in India.

Indian Nationals for visit to another Asian country for collection of material for their Ph.D studies in India.

Nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D studies in India.

Eligibility

Should be a postgraduate in First Class.

Should not be above 35 years of age.

Should be a full-time Ph.D scholar

Should already be registered for Ph.D degree in an Indian university / institution at the time of making the application for scholarship.

Broad subjects of study relate to: a) Science and Technology as an integral component of economic and social activity, including the philosophy of science, b) Comparative studies in religion and culture, c) International relations and constitutional studies, d) Indian history, civilization and culture, e) Interface of social change and sustainable development, Environmental ecology and economic development, f) Studies in the life and work of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The scholarship amount admissible to selected candidates in category (a) and (c) will include Rs. 6,000 per month as maintenance allowance, Rs. 10,000 per annum as contingency expenses including travel expenses and actual tuition fee for studies in India. In category (b), the scholarship will include maintenance allowance.

Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology Fellowships (IDRBT), offers fellowships for doctoral research in the areas of Banking Technology (Financial Networks and Applications, Electronic Payments and Settlement Systems, Security Technologies for the Financial Sector, Technology-Based Education, Training and Development, and Financial Information Systems and Business Intelligence).

Eligibility: First class M. Tech in IT / Computer Science or M. Phil in Mathematics, Statistics, Electronics or MBA in IT / Systems after appropriate B Tech. Fellowship - Rs. 11,000 to 17,000. Deadline is March every year. Contact: IDRBT, Castle Hills, Hyderabad - 500057

AICTE Fellowships

The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body, established for proper planning and coordinated development of technical education system throughout the country, covering programmes of training and research in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Management, Pharmacy, Applied Arts and Crafts, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, etc., at different levels.

National Doctoral Fellowships to selected candidates in emerging areas / disciplines of Technical Education, with a view to attracting highly qualified and motivated candidates to pursue doctoral degree and offer themselves for teaching position in the Technical Education system. This includes

1) Scholarship of Rs. 12,000 per month 2) Contingency grant of Rs. 25,000 per annum and

3) Overhead charges of Rs. 20,000 per annum to the host institution.

Period of scholarship is three years, extendable for one more year, if necessary. Eligibility is that the candidate should be less than 35 years of age as on August 31 of the year of application; 40 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST, Women and Physically challenged category.

Career Awards for Young Teachers

Eligibility: Regular teachers working in AICTE-approved technical institutions / university departments imparting technical education including Engineering and Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Management, Pharmacy, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Applied Arts & Crafts. Should have postgraduate degree, consistently good academic career and a demonstrated aptitude with commitment to research work.

Age limit 35 years; women up to 40 years will be considered. Duration is three years.

The awardees shall be treated as on duty, and will therefore draw their salaries. In addition they will receive a total grant of Rs 10. 50 lakh during the three years. (first year: 4. 60 lakh, second year: 3.10 lakh, and third Year: 2. 80 lakh).

Should work in the institution for three more years after the tenure of the award.

Scholarship for master's degree under QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) Eligibility: Full-time regular permanent faculty of degree level engineering college approved by AICTE. Should have two years of teaching experience at graduate level. Duration: Two years. Value: Full salary plus Rs. 2,500 per month and Rs. 3,000 per annum as contingent grant.
