The first journalism department in the country - Department of Communication & Journalism, Osmania University has now added a full-fledged television studio to train students to fit into the growing television news industry. P.L. Vishweshwar Rao, principal, College of Arts and Social Sciences and Coordinator, Special Assistance Programme said the studio facility would help in training the students in television production. He said the studio was established at a cost of Rs. 22 lakhs and because of the progress achieved by the department, University Grants Commission had been providing financial assistance under the Special Assistance Programmes. He hoped that soon the department would become an advanced centre for media studies.
