BANGALORE: Central leaders of the BJP have expressed satisfaction over the performance of the party Ministers in the six-month-old H.D. Kumaraswamy-led coalition Government and asked them to interact more with the State office-bearers and party workers. Among others, the budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa came in for high praise at the review meeting. Addressing presspersons on Sunday after the conclusion of a two-day review of the performance of Ministers, BJP vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, MP, urged Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to follow the coalition dharma and give attention to implementing the Common Minimum Programme of the ruling parties. He also said there was no danger to the Government and that "it is safe." The party Ministers were told not to air their grievances or complaints in the media or to members of the public. All those who were holding responsible positions in the party or the Government were asked to air their views in the party forum or at the coordination committee meeting, he said. Mr. Naidu, along with general secretary of the party in charge of Karnataka Thavarchand Gehlot, general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, and State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda, MP, reviewed the performance of all Ministers. All Ministers attended the programme held at a holiday resort on Doddaballapur Road, about 40 km from here. Mr. Naidu said the exercise was undertaken to ensure a better rapport between Ministers on one side and party leaders workers on the other. There was a need for showing more visibility by the Ministers through their work, action and propagating the achievements in their respective departments. "The review was done to build the image of the Government, particularly that of the BJP Ministers." They were told to interact regularly with party cadre at all levels. Mr. Naidu said a new programme "Sahayog" would be launched soon wherein Ministers would spend two hours in the party office in Bangalore from Monday to Thursday and interact with party leaders and workers. Later, it would be extended to party offices in the districts. An interactive meeting of Ministers with party MPs and legislators would also be organised in the future, he said. "The review is not aimed at finding fault with any Ministers or giving grades to anyone." It was aimed to evaluate their performance and to exchange views with regard to better governance, accountability to the party and to the people, Mr. Naidu said. The party had circulated a questionnaire with 25 questions to each Minister on topics pertaining to department schemes, new initiatives launched, execution of programmes, visits to party offices, use of government facilities, time management etc. Some of the Ministers had submitted progress reports, he said. The Ministers and MLAs were told to donate a month's salary each to the party and subscribe to party magazines. Mr. Naidu commended Mr. Yediyurappa for presenting a good budget to the State and said it had been appreciated by all. Mr. Ananth Kumar, Mr. Gehlot, Mr. Sadananda Gowda, Mr. Yediyurappa and Minister for Major Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu were present.
