GULBARGA: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh on Sunday took exception to the absence of Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa during Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy's visit to flood-hit areas in Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Raichur and Gulbarga districts Addressing a press conference here, he said Mr. Yediyurappa who holds the Finance portfolio, should have accompanied the Chief Minister to take on-the-spot decisions on the release of the relief amount to the affected areas. Mr. Singh said the Deputy Chief Minister was in Bangalore attending a session organised by BJP general secretary Venkaiah Naidu to assess the performance of the BJP Ministers. "For BJP Ministers in the State, attending party functions is more important than people's problems," he said. He said there was no coordination between the Janata Dal (Secular) and the BJP on many issues concerning the State such as the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project. The Janata Dal (S) insisted on taking over the BMIC project and the BJP had opposed it openly.
Report on bribery charge
Mr. Singh said he was not aware of the content of the report submitted by Governor T.N. Chaturvedi on the corruption charge levelled by BJP MLC Janardhan Reddy against the Chief Minister.
