`Region-wise editions affecting people's issues'

Staff Correspondent

R.H. Kulkarni Media Award presented to M. Nagarajrao

Belgaum: Journalist, writer and a social activist Mattihalli Nagarajrao of Bellary has called upon national and State-level media establishments, particularly the print media, to bridge the gap among people instead of widening them through their region-wise and district-wise editions.

He was addressing a function after receiving the R.H. Kulkarni Media Award in recognition of his contribution in the field of journalism here on Saturday. The award instituted by R.H. Kulkarni Memorial Trust, Belgaum, carries a citation and a cash award of Rs. 5,000. Former Chief Justice of Kerala High Court V.S. Malimath was the chief guest. Mr. Nagarajrao said the region-wise and district-wise editions had adversely affected the people's issues and struggles.

Earlier, trust member Subash Kulkarni highlighted the objectives of the trust and said the first award was conferred on veteran journalist Surendra Dane last year.
