THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Agriculture Department has brought biofertilizers and organic manure under the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO) in order to ensure the quality of these fertilizers available in the market. The fertilizers which have been brought under the order are Rhizobium, Azetobacter, Azospirillum, urban compost, vermin compost and press mud. Licence will have to be taken from the department for the manufacture and distribution of these fertilizers in future. It will be given only to institutions which function according to the norms fixed by the Government. Legal action will be taken as per the provisions of the FCO against institutions which do not observe the norms. Those engaged in the manufacture and distribution of these fertilizers now should dispose of the stocks with them before December 31. After that, only those who have obtained the licence will be allowed as per law to manufacture and distribute these fertilizers.
