London: Rumeli Dhar struck an unbeaten 66 (69b, 6x4) to guide India to a comfortable eight-wicket win against England in the Natwest women's international Twenty20 at Derby on Saturday. After restricting England to 107 for eight in 20 overs, India reached the target with four balls to spare. Once skipper Mithali Raj won the toss and asked the host to bat, the Indian pace duo of vice-captain Jhulan Goswami and Amita Sharma came out firing. Jhulan castled skipper Charlotte Edwards for a duck and returned to remove Caroline Atkins. She was easily the pick of the Indian bowlers, claiming two wickets for 14 runs in four overs, including a maiden. Jenny Gunn (38) and Claire Taylor (21) tried to steady the ship but five run-outs did not help the England cause. It finished at 107 for eight in 20 overs. In reply, India lost Sulakshana Naik for a duck off the second ball of the innings, but Rumeli and Mithali Raj (28) added 86 runs for the second wicket before the latter fell to Beth Morgan. However, Rumeli saw India through. The scores: England 107 for eight in 20 overs lost to India 109 for two in 19.2 overs (Rumeli Dhar 66 not out, Mithali Raj 28). UNI
