BANGALORE: Sunday had this friendly ring to it, something special. With almost every other day now being celebrated for a cause, the "Friendship Day" tag fitted splendidly on Sunday. A friend is someone whose shoulders are open for you to rest upon, pour your heart out. He/she is someone who lightens up your life, who loves you unconditionally like your inner self. A season of bands, a day for get-togethers, exchange of cards and gifts, fun and enjoyment, and recollecting the old memories. "Friendship Day" is there to be earmarked in our hearts. For Thejasvi, a television episode director, "Friendship Day need not be celebrated on one single day. Friends are of great value, they stand by you anytime and you can rely on them. But I feel all days are meant for friends." Deepti Prabhakar, a student of NMKRV College, says that meeting friends and enjoying makes a lot of sense to her. "Though I did not celebrate Friendship Day, I preferred going out with my friend, sipping coffee and treating that as my celebration of Friendship Day," she says. Samreen, a psychology student of Mount Carmel College, says, "It is just a day you get to chill out with your friends. I wished my friends and tied bands on the Day." Whatever be the opinion of people, bands kiss the hands and there will be no end for parties and fun. As the day passed, it reinforced its status as a day to cherish memories and thicken the ties of friendship. For all who had a fight or crack in friendship, it was a day to forget and forgive and sail in the ocean of friendship.
