BIRTHDAY WISHES: M.S.Gurupadaswamy being felicitated on his 85th birthday in Mysore on Sunday.
MYSORE: The city on Sunday witnessed the birthday celebrations of two veteran politicians who were felicitated for their contributions to public life. While veteran parliamentarian and former Union Minister M.S. Gurupadaswamy celebrated his 85th birthday, former Union Minister and five-time MP V. Srinivas Prasad celebrated his 58th birthday. Mr. Gurupadaswamy was felicitated by several leaders including former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajasekharan, and former Union Minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief among others at a function held at Kalamandira. Politicians cutting across party lines greeted the leader who was described as a "gentleman in politics" while Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Math offered Mr. Gurupadaswamy a Mysore petha and a memento to mark the occasion. Mr. Rajasekharan described Mr. Gurupadaswamy as a "committed social worker and an able parliamentarian". Mr. Srinivas Prasad used the occasion to felicitate social workers and students who were identified for their outstanding performance in the examination.
