MYSORE: Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief has sought the dissolution of the State Assembly. Speaking to presspersons here on the sidelines of a meeting convened by a voluntary organisation to prepare a plan for the all-round development of Muslim community, Mr. Sharief said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy should dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate in the wake of the corruption charges levelled against him. Mr Sharief claimed he told former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda about the need for dissolution of the Assembly when he met the latter here earlier in the day. The two leaders had met briefly during the 85th birthday celebrations of veteran parliamentarian M.S. Gurupadaswamy here on Sunday. Mr. Sharief said the coalition Government had failed to provide good governance. "Corruption charges and scandals are the only achievement of this Government", he said. The Government had lost control over the officials and the State machinery, he added. The Chief Minister has to seek a fresh mandate to remain in power, he said.
