48-year-old tops exam for neo-literates

KOZHIKODE: A 48-year-old man has bagged first rank in the examination conducted by the District Literacy Mission for neo-literates.

K. Mohandas, a student of the Continuing Education Centre at Kannadikulam in Cheruvannur-Nallalam Grama Panchayat limits, is the top scorer.

Mr. Mohandas scored 47 marks out of 50. The oldest student in the continuing education programme in the district is 76-year-old T. Balu. He is a student of the Manjakadavu Continuing Education Centre in Koduvally Block Panchayat limits.

The most number of students appeared for the continuing education programme from the Yuvadhara Chemmarathur Continuing education Centre in Tiruvallur panchayat limits in Thodannur block, a release from the Public Relations Department says.
